Terms and conditions

Last updated

These terms are the agreement between you and Annualiser (“we”, “us”) for your use of this site at annualiser.com. They cover what the service does, what we ask of you, and what happens when something goes wrong.

We have tried to write them in plain English rather than legal English. Where a clause matters more than the others — what Annualiser is not, and the limits of what we are responsible for — it is called out rather than buried.

1. Who we are

Annualiser is an independent UK site, run by its author rather than by a company. There is no registered business behind it at the moment, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. If that changes, this clause will name the company, its number and its registered office, and the date at the top of this page will change with it.

The way to reach us is hello@annualiser.com.

2. Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using Annualiser you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

If you are using Annualiser on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business.

3. Annualiser is a calculator, not financial advice

This is the most important clause on this page. Annualiser divides the bills you enter by the number of months before each one is due and adds the results together. That is the whole of what it does. It is arithmetic performed on figures you supply.

It is not financial advice, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing on this site is a personal recommendation to save a particular amount, to buy or not buy any product, or to switch any provider. Renewal timing guidance is general information about how UK pricing tends to work, not a recommendation about your circumstances.

The figures are only ever as good as what you type in. We do not verify your bill amounts or due dates, we cannot know about bills you have not entered, and we do not know what else your money is committed to. Decisions about your money remain yours. If you need advice about your situation, speak to a qualified adviser — or, if you are struggling with money, to a free service such as MoneyHelper or Citizens Advice.

4. Who can use Annualiser

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Annualiser is built around UK bills, pounds sterling and UK renewal cycles, and is intended for use in the United Kingdom. You are welcome to use it elsewhere, but the figures assume a UK context and we make no claim that the service is appropriate or available in other countries.

5. Your account

You need an account to save bills. When you create one you agree to give an email address you control and to keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Tell us promptly at hello@annualiser.com if you think someone else has got into it.

6. Using the service properly

While using Annualiser, please do not:

  • break the law, or use the service to help anyone else break it
  • try to get into another user’s account or data
  • probe, scan or test the security of the service, or work around any limit we have set
  • scrape, copy or resell the content or the underlying data in bulk
  • upload anything designed to damage the service or the people using it
  • put the service under deliberate load that degrades it for others

We may suspend or close an account that does any of these, and where the law has been broken we may report it.

7. Annualiser Plus, payment and cancelling

The bills calculator is free. Annualiser Plus is a paid subscription that adds a full monthly budget which each bill’s saving flows into automatically. The price and the billing period are shown before you pay.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Plus until the period you have already paid for ends. We do not give partial refunds for time remaining in a period unless the law requires it.

Because Plus is digital content supplied immediately, you are asked to agree that it starts straight away, which means your 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations ends once it does. This does not affect your rights if the service turns out to be faulty or not as described.

If we change the price, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.

8. Your information

To run the service we store the email address you sign up with, a hashed version of your password — never the password itself — and the bills and budget entries you enter. We do not connect to your bank, we do not read your transactions, and we do not sell your information.

We use cookies to measure how the site is used. Measurement stays switched off unless you accept them on the banner, and you can decline with a single click.

You can delete your bills at any time from within the app, and you can ask us to close your account and delete the data attached to it by emailing hello@annualiser.com.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Annualiser running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. It may be unavailable during maintenance, or because something has broken.

Annualiser is a young product and it will keep changing. We may add, alter or withdraw features. If we withdraw something you rely on, or discontinue the service altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export what you have entered, unless circumstances outside our control make that impossible.

10. Who owns what

The site, its design, its text and the underlying software are ours and are protected by copyright. You may use them for their intended purpose, and you may quote or link to our public pages with attribution. You may not copy the service or reproduce it wholesale.

The bills and figures you enter remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them for the purpose of providing the service to you, and for nothing else.

11. Ending this agreement

You can stop using Annualiser and close your account whenever you like.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we are required to by law. Except where you have seriously breached these terms, we will give you notice first and a chance to put things right.

12. What we are responsible for

We provide Annualiser with reasonable care and skill. But the service does arithmetic on figures you supply, and the results are a planning aid rather than a guarantee that you will have enough money when a bill arrives.

We are not liable for business losses, loss of profit, or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the service. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ÂŁ100.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms do not affect.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top of this page tells you when they last changed. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you — by email or a notice in the app — before it takes effect. Carrying on using Annualiser after that means you accept the new terms.

14. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Claims about them can be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own country’s courts.

15. Contact

Questions about these terms, your account or your data: hello@annualiser.com. We aim to reply within a few working days.

Annualiser is a calculator, not a regulated financial adviser, and it never connects to your bank. If you have a question about how the monthly figure is worked out, the FAQ covers it in plainer terms than this page can.
